How to Use Wax Seal Beads with a Spoon
Wax seal beads are a fun and traditional way to create beautiful wax seals. They are perfect for custom projects and allow you to mix colors or add decorative touches like dried flowers and gold flakes. In this tutorial, we’ll guide you through the simple steps to use wax seal beads with a spoon.
What You’ll Need:
-
Wax seal beads (any color or mix)
-
Wax seal spoon
-
Wax seal stamp
-
Wax stove or tealight candle
-
Heat-resistant surface (like a silicone mat or baking paper)
-
Optional: dried flowers, gold flakes, glitter, tweezers
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Step 1: Prepare Your Workspace
Place a heat-resistant mat on your table. Set out your wax seal stamp, spoon, wax beads, and any decorative elements you want to use. Light your tealight candle or wax stove.
Step 2: Add Wax Beads to the Spoon
Place 2–4 wax beads into the spoon. This amount is ideal for one standard wax seal (25mm size).
Step 3: Melt the Wax
Hold the spoon over the flame or rest it on your wax stove. Allow the wax to melt slowly. Stir occasionally with a toothpick or small stick to ensure even melting. This takes around 30–60 seconds.
Step 4: Pour the Wax
When the wax is fully melted and smooth, pour it onto the surface where you want your seal. Aim for a round puddle slightly larger than your stamp.
Step 5: Press Your Stamp
Immediately press the stamp into the center of the wax. Hold it for 10–15 seconds.
Step 6: Reveal the Seal
Carefully lift the stamp to reveal your beautiful wax seal. Let it cool completely.
Tips:
-
Clean your spoon while it’s still warm with a tissue.
-
Use a cool stamp for crisp designs (place it on an ice pack for a few seconds before stamping).
-
Mix different bead colors to create marble effects.
